Department Committee Assignments

Committee Rosters as of: March 28, 2007

Curriculum/Catalog: Responsible for implementing curricular changes according to college and university procedures. Annually review catalog content including course statements, department information, program information, and prerequisites. Don (Chair) 3 years, Gary 2 years, (vacant) 3 years.

Graduate Studies: Responsible for the development of the department's Master's program. Work with the Chair to implement the program as soon as possible. Henry (Chair) 3 years, Jeff 2 years, Owen 3 years

Library: An audit of existing chemistry holdings is needed including, journals, texts, references, and computer services. Committee will oversee the department's library budget and coordinate all book and journal orders annually. Committee members will be responsible for online access information and training. Birthday: Committee will bring cheer (or torment) to individuals on their birthdays, including implementation of sweet treats, office pranks, and keepsakes. Marie (Chair) permanent, Jenny, Sean, and the rest of the department as needed.

Tenure: Committee will evaluate and submit written reports to the department and college on the progress of all untenured faculty on an annual basis. These evaluations are to be discussed with each untenured faculty member. Untenured faculty will be asked to contribute documentation on their efforts in the three areas of evaluation: research, teaching, and service. Dale (Chair) 3 years, Henry 3 years, Brad 2 years.

Awards/Scholarships: Committee will coordinate and initiate student awards and scholarships. Don (Chair) 2 years, Karen 3 years, Eric 3 years

Public Relations/Outreach (PROC): This committee will promote the department and keep contact with our alumni and emeriti faculty. Duties to include: working with university PR to promote efforts in the media, create newsletter (at least annually), gather department effort information (grants, papers, awards, outreach etc.), create dynamic website, keep department "in the news" within the university (A&S newsletter, university email and print publications), and update department displays and bulletin boards. Separately, the committee is tasked to bring the department's work to the public and community to promote chemistry and the department. General chemistry/Adjuncts: Monitor laboratory offerings and mentor/evaluate part-time adjuncts. Cliff (Chair) 3 years, Dee 3 years, Darcy 2 years.

Chemistry Student Club: Committee will work with student to create a dynamic and active club. Darcy (Chair) 3 years, Brad 2 years, Mike 2 years, Henry 2 years.

Safety Committee: Ken 3 years, Dee 2 Years, Dale 3 years, Mike 3 years.

Advanced Laboratory Committee: This committee is tasked with the development of new lab assignments for advanced lab class. Jeff (Chair) 3 years, Dale 2 Years, Mike 2 years, Owen 2 years, Eric 2 years, Brad 2 years.

General Laboratory Committee: This committee is tasked to develop new lab topics for C10x and C11x. Cliff (Chair) 3 years, Dale 2 years, Mike 2 years, Dee 2 years, Carol 2 years, Sean 2 years.
