Congratulations to Dr. Clifford LeMaster, chair of the Department! Dr. LeMaster has been selected as the football "Coach for a Game" for the revenge game against Hawaii on October 17th. This honor goes to outstanding faculty who have been nominated by college deans for their service and committment to the university.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry welcomes Dr. Jeunghoon Lee as our newest assistant professor! Dr. Lee comes to Boise State University from a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University working in the lab of Dr. Fotois Papadimitrakopoulos. Dr. Lee's has expertise in the chemical synthesis of semiconductor nanoparticles and nanofabrication of metal nanoparticles, and also specializes in assembly and optical properties of nanoparticles for optoelectronics and biological applications.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry welcomes Laura Vogler (Boise State chemistry alumni, class of 2004) as our new stockroom manager! Laura replaces Faith Carter, who recently retired from service to the university.

Farewell to stockroom materials manager Marie McCurry, who is retiring August 22nd. Marie's going away party will be held at 4p-6p August 5th at Papa Joe's Restaurant.

Farewell to special lecturer Darcy Thie, who is going to pharmacy graduate school at Idaho State University this fall. Darcy's going away party will be held at 7p August 14th at Bardenay Restaurant.

The department's new 600 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer has been purchased from Bruker Biospin Corporation and is scheduled for delivery on September 12th, with installation to commence on September 15th.

Fall semester 2008 starts August 25th!
