Title: The
Future of Hydrogen in Idaho—An Overview
Abstract: The
utilization of hydrogen energy in
the global context is discussed with attention to the roles of
Idaho’s research universities and the Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls in the production, storage, and
utilization of hydrogen for the future.
The potential for a near-term hydrogen economy is evaluated along with
the practical methods of hydrogen generation, storage and distribution.
New formulations for the thermophysical properties of hydrogen for use in
engineering system design and analysis developed in previous research are
presented. Possible scenarios
for both short and long term engagement of the researchers associated
with the Center for Advanced Energy Studies in
Idaho Falls
are discussed including both educational and research objectives.
A recommendation for future research is presented.
