INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS TO PROCEEDINGS OF THE ANNUAL
MEETING OF THE
Electronic copies of articles must be received by the Editor
within 2 weeks after the Friday of the IAS meetings (April 11, 2008)
Authors of talks or posters presented at the annual IAS
meeting may submit one proceedings paper for each talk or poster. Each
proceedings paper must summarize the major points of the talk or poster, with
additional background and supporting detail. Proceedings papers will be
peer-reviewed and made available to members and subscribers to the Journal of
the Idaho Academy of Science. Authors need to submit an electronic copy via
email, one
hard copy and a electronic copy on a CD to the editor listed below.
Manuscripts should use Arial font, size 12. They should be double spaced
throughout with margins of at least 1” at top, bottom, and sides and printed on
only one side of standard 8.5x11” page. Articles
are limited to 10 pages including tables and figures. The first page should
contain only the title, author(s) names, author(s) affiliations, and contact
information (telephone, e-mail, fax) for the corresponding author.
The
title should be repeated at the top of the second page. Beginning with the
second page, the paper should contain, text (with desired headings), literature
cited, tables, figures and figure legends.
Tables, figures and figure legends should be incorporated into the
article where the authors desire their placement.
Figure legends should be brief and placed beneath the figure. Pages
should be numbered centered at the bottom of each page (note including title
page).
The abstract should be complete and understandable
without reference to the text. The
scope of the article should be stated in an introductory paragraph or section.
Footnote material should be incorporated into the text whenever possible.
Authors should follow the suggestions in the latest edition of the CBE
Style Manual (AIBS) for abbreviations, punctuation, and similar format issues.
All numerical measurements should be given in the metric values with the
English system values following in parentheses where desirable.
Tables and figures should be used only when needed to further understand the
text. Figures and Tables will not be reduced or enlarged when printed; thus,
figures may be no larger than 11 x 17 cm (4-1/2 x 6 ¾ inches).
If photographs are submitted they must be electronic files (jpeg, gif
or tif files) incorporated
into the manuscript. Color figures
are acceptable.
On
a separate sheet (not counted in the 10-page limit), submit a
minimum of two suggested reviewers
names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. Each reviewer should be
able to independently assess the technical merit and suitability for publication
of the paper. Reviewers must not have been involved in supporting the work
reported in the paper (e.g. did not
provide funding, research supervision, or managerial oversight), or have a
financial interest in the publication of the paper.
Each paper will be peer-reviewed for clarity and technical accuracy.
Authors will then have an opportunity to clarify and correct problems
identified by the reviewers. The review process is double blind (i.e., the
reviewers will not know the identities of the authors, and the authors will not
know the identities of the reviewers). Therefore, the authors should be
identified ONLY on the title page, which will not be sent to the reviewers.
Manuscripts in which the authors can be identified by information beyond the
title page of the manuscript (e.g., in the running head at the top of each page)
will be returned to the author for modifications.
