Title: Biodiesel

Abstract: Biodiesel is a replacement fuel for petroleum diesel which is produced by chemically modifying fats and oils derived from plants and animals. The process is relatively simple.  Producing in spec biodiesel is relatively difficult. Glycerin is the byproduct of the transesterification reaction.  Biodiesel reduces air pollutants, improves energy security, and is a potential new segment for Idaho agriculture. What are the potential issues with biodiesel? What is the potential market? What are the economics of biodiesel?
