About Me
In my free time, I enjoy spending time outside and participating in various outdoor sports. I have two Labrador Retrievers that love to accompany me on my outdoor excursions. Joey is my three-year-old chocolate female and Ozzie is my two-year-old yellow male. Last fall I ran the Portland Marathon and am planning on competing in the Boise 70.3 Ironman Triathlon this June. I love to travel and have visited ten countries in Europe and studied abroad in Ireland as an undergraduate.
Work Experience and Professional Interests
While pursuing my chemistry degree, I obtained an undergraduate summer fellowship from the Idaho Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network supported by NIH and worked for Dr. Henry Charlier to improve the effectiveness and safety of a class of anti-tumor drugs, anthrycyclines. During this time, I also tested specimens for viruses using fluorescent antibody assays, ELISAs, and fluorescent microscopy for the Virology and Serology Section of the Department of Health and Welfare Bureau of Laboratories. After obtaining my degree, I was employed by Hewlett-Packard for two years where I routinely tested metal plating bath solutions utilizing HPLC, ion chromatography, inductively coupled plasma (ICP-OES), capillary electrophoresis, surface tensiometry and auto-titration. I returned to BSU in 2006 to pursue an MBA, which I completed in 2008. As the laboratory manager for the chemistry department, I am thrilled to be able to put to work my knowledge of chemistry, analytical instrumentation and business in an effort to improve chemistry students’ laboratory experience at BSU.
