Learning Objectives...
1. Understand the rules of nomenclature and know whether a compound is an ionic compound or a molecular compound.
2. Be able to draw the molecular formula when given the name and be able to name a compound when given the formula. Hint...make up flash-cards for these cations and anions. When you study flash-cards...write the answer on scratch paper and then turn the card over to check your response. If your response is not correct, cross out your answer and rewrite it. This visually tells you that your first answer was wrong and corrects the image in your mind. This is the most effective way to learn this type of material and is very time efficient in the long run.
