Sharing
is one way in which elements can obey the "octet rule" and become
isoelectronic with the inert gases. However, this answer is
not correct. In order for elements to share electrons
equally with other elements, they must have somewhat the same attraction for
electrons (electronegativity). Fluorine and the metals are as far apart as
possible in terms of the difference in their electronegativities so this will
just not happen.
