This answer is
not correct. I think that you are thinking that large groups should be in
equatorial positions but this is dependent on the geometric positioning of the
groups. The best way to solve this problem is to draw the compound in a Haworth
projection and then assign the largest group as an equatorial position (Haworth
projections do not show axial-equatorial positions). Then remember that the
axial-equatorial positions alternate across the top and bottom of the ring as
shown...
